The One Within

Look deep inside
Something stares back with red eyes
Adjust vision to see
A doppelganger staring at me
Anger showing on his face
Body filling this dark space
Ready for a fight to ensue
He stands like a dog protecting its’ chew
Growling with every slight move

A frightening sight to take
This scene is not fake
He is held back
Without any slack
Unforeseen consequences
Should he escape my consciousness

His name is rage
This is his stage
All around is his cage
Inevitably he gets free
Getting him back is up to me
Use to be a struggle
Now just a little trouble

Oh, to be free
Of the rage inside me
A more thought out reaction
Instead of crazy action
More peace of mind
For all human kind
